TILMA - Trade, Investment & Labour Mobility Agreement

Alberta/BC Certification Portability

Under the new Trade, Investment, and Labour Mobility Agreement (TILMA) between Alberta and British Columbia, a current Alberta certificate in Emergency, Standard or Enhanced First Aid Certification issued by an Alberta Approved First Aid Training Agency will be recognized in British Columbia (and visa versa).  Alberta workers moving to BC or temporarily working in BC and requiring a BC certification must apply in person to an Approved Training Agency in BC for an "out-of-jurisdiction" certificate by producing their valid Alberta certificate and photo ID.  An orientation package to WorkSafe BC requirements will be provided to applicants at the time of application.

Application and Registration fee is $20.

Workers moving from BC to Alberta must have a valid BC certificate and once in Alberta, receive an orientation from their employer on Alberta First Aid requirements.  Alberta Work Safe bulletins which include the information required may be downloaded from the Alberta Government website:  www.worksafely.org.  No additional certificate is required.  The BC certificate is recognized until the expiry date.
